Stocks listed in Finland ended the trading session on Wednesday with gains, led by advances in Telecoms, Consumer Services and Utilities stocks.
At the close in Helsinki, the OMX Helsinki 25 increased 1.08%, registering a one-month high for the index.
The day's top performer on the OMX Helsinki 25 was Nokia Oyj (NOKIA), which climbed 9.58% - up 0.79 points to finish at 9.01. Lumo Kodit Oyj (LUMO) also posted gains, rising 1.61% or 0.13 points to close at 8.22. Hiab Oyj (HIAB) advanced 1.46%, adding 0.90 points to end the session at 62.50.
Not all components moved higher. KONE Oyj (KNEBV) was the biggest decliner among the index constituents shown, slipping 2.18% or 1.12 points to 50.28 at the close. Orion Oyj B (ORNBV) fell 1.83%, down 1.45 points to 77.90, while Qt Group Oyj (QTCOM) declined 1.47% or 0.50 points to 33.46.
Market breadth on the Helsinki Stock Exchange was tilted toward gainers: 96 stocks rose, 77 fell and 20 finished unchanged.
An additional notable milestone for the session was Hiab Oyj reaching an all-time high, with its 1.46% gain taking the share price to 62.50.
Commodities and currency moves that accompanied the equities session included a small retreat in Brent oil for October delivery, which fell 0.12% or 0.11 to trade at $88.80 a barrel. By contrast, crude oil for September delivery gained 0.16% or 0.13 to settle at $83.33 a barrel. The December Gold Futures contract moved higher by 0.89% or 39.32 to trade at $4,480.42 a troy ounce.
On the currency front, EUR/USD was effectively flat, changing by 0.03% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP was also largely unchanged, moving 0.04% to 0.85. The US Dollar Index Futures was reported up 0.02% at 99.73.
