  • Organic net revenue growth accelerated to 4.3% in Q3, supported by Energy & Water, major transportation programs and improved Industrial Manufacturing & Technology performance.
  • Order backlog and intake strengthened - backlog rose 8% to €3,911 million and order intake increased 12% to €1,007 million - while free cash flow climbed 64% to €131 million amid a reduction in working capital days from 73 to 65.

Arcadis N.V. reported operating EBITA of €124 million for the third quarter of 2026, marking a 14% increase versus the prior period and outpacing the consensus estimate of €115 million by roughly 8%.

Organic net revenue growth accelerated to 4.3% in Q3, up from 0.8% in the first quarter and 2.2% in the second quarter. Management attributed the uplift to performance in Energy & Water, contributions from major transportation programs and a turnaround in Industrial Manufacturing & Technology.

The company said the operating EBITA margin expanded to 12.5% in the third quarter, an improvement of 90 basis points compared with an 11.2% margin reported for the first half of 2026. Arcadis linked the margin gain to better utilization, operating leverage and cost control measures.

Activity indicators also strengthened. The order backlog rose 8% organically to €3,911 million in the quarter, while order intake climbed 12% to €1,007 million.

Free cash flow improved materially, increasing 64% to €131 million. Working capital days declined to 65 from 73, a change the company said was driven by improved billing and cash collection practices.

Arcadis reiterated its full-year 2026 guidance, maintaining expectations for low-single-digit revenue growth and confirming an operating EBITA margin recovery of approximately 75 basis points to a range of 11.7% to 12.0% for the year.

Strategic changes were announced alongside the quarterly results. Arcadis plans to reorganize its business around three areas - Transportation, Power & Water, and Industrial Manufacturing & Technology. The company said it will divest the Real Estate & Development segment, which includes most of its Architecture business and its China operations.

Looking beyond 2026, Arcadis set targets for 2027 through 2029 that aim for mid-single-digit organic net revenue growth and an EBITDA margin in the mid-to-high teens by 2029. For context, the company expects an EBITDA margin of 14.3% to 14.6% for 2026.

The results show simultaneous progress on top-line momentum, margin recovery and cash conversion, while management is pursuing portfolio simplification and a clearer business-area focus. The company confirmed its near-term guidance and laid out multi-year ambitions without changing the numbers it expects for 2026.

Risks

  • Divestment of the Real Estate & Development segment - which includes most of the Architecture business and China operations - may introduce execution and integration risks for impacted stakeholders and markets.
  • The company’s medium-term targets through 2029 depend on delivering mid-single-digit organic net revenue growth and margin expansion; failure to sustain revenue momentum or operating leverage could hinder reaching those EBITDA margin goals.
  • Working capital improvements supported free cash flow this quarter; a reversal in billing or collection performance could reduce cash generation and affect liquidity metrics.
