Market close overview
Israel's equity market closed lower on Thursday, with the TA-35 index down 1.22% at the end of the session. Sector-level weakness in Real Estate, Technology and Insurance was cited as the primary drag on prices across the exchange.
Winners and losers
Among constituents of the TA-35, Elbit Systems Ltd (TASE:ESLT) was the session's top performer, rising 2.61% - an increase of 5,670.00 points - to finish at 223,100.00. Palo Alto Networks Inc (TASE:CYBR) also gained ground, adding 2.07% or 2,090.00 points to close at 103,060.00. Delek Group (TASE:DLEKG) posted a modest advance of 0.21%, up 19.00 points to 9,118.00.
On the downside, OPC Energy Ltd (TASE:OPCE) led losses, sliding 5.73% or 580.00 points to settle at 9,550.00. Kenon Holdings Ltd (TASE:KEN) dropped 5.39%, down 1,140.00 points to 20,000.00, while Next Vision Stabilized Systems (TASE:NXSN) fell 4.38% or 1,000.00 points to 21,840.00.
Breadth and internals
Decliners outnumbered advancers on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange by 357 to 113, and 89 stocks finished unchanged, indicating broad selling pressure across the market.
Commodities and currency moves
Crude oil for October delivery rose 3.95%, gaining $3.79 to trade at $99.84 a barrel. Brent oil for November delivery increased 4.05%, up $4.10 to $105.31 a barrel. In metals, the December Gold Futures contract fell 1.39%, a decline of $62.09, to trade at $4,398.61 a troy ounce.
On the FX front, USD/ILS strengthened 0.74% to 3.05, while EUR/ILS rose 0.70% to 3.54. The US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.10%, trading at 98.91 during the session.
