Market breadth

On the Taiwan Stock Exchange, advancing issues outnumbered decliners by 619 to 385, while 121 stocks finished unchanged, indicating a broadly positive session despite sharp moves among individual names.


Commodities and currency

In commodities trading, crude oil for October delivery rose 0.87% or 0.81 to close at $93.84 a barrel. Brent crude for November delivery gained 0.98% or 0.96 to $98.88 a barrel. The December gold futures contract was up 0.07% or 3.01 to trade at 4,442.01 a troy ounce.

On the currency front, USD/TWD was down 0.20% at 31.46, while TWD/CNY was essentially unchanged, moving 0.19% to 0.21.
