Stocks in Sweden closed lower on Thursday, pressured by weakness in Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumer Goods. At the close in Stockholm the OMX Stockholm 30 dropped 0.41%.
Among individual movers on the OMX Stockholm 30, Telia Company AB (ST:TELIA) was the top riser, gaining 1.77% or 0.79 points to finish at 45.49. AstraZeneca PLC (ST:AZN) added 1.45% or 22.00 points to end the session at 1,541.00. Nordea Bank Abp (ST:NDASE) also climbed, up 1.12% or 2.20 points to 198.70 in late trade.

Commodity markets registered significant moves during the session. Crude oil for October delivery rose 5.55% or 5.33 to trade at $101.38 a barrel. Brent oil for November delivery climbed 5.49% or 5.56 to $106.77 a barrel. In precious metals, the December Gold Futures contract was lower, falling 1.17% or 52.28 to trade at $4,408.42 a troy ounce.
Currency pairs involving the Swedish krona moved higher against major counterparts. EUR/SEK advanced 0.77% to 11.23, while USD/SEK rose 0.81% to 9.66. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 98.91.
The session’s price action left a mixed picture across sectors: although select large-cap names such as Telia, AstraZeneca and Nordea managed gains, losses among commodity-linked and industrial stocks contributed to the overall decline on the benchmark index. The distribution of decliners over advancers reflected that selling pressure was more widespread than buying interest during the trading day.
Investors will likely watch how the moves in energy and currency markets influence corporate costs and export competitiveness, given the sector composition of the Swedish market. The data from this close provides a snapshot of market positioning heading into the next trading session.
