- Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) rose 4.44%, adding 228.00 points to end the day at 5,360.00.
- Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) advanced 3.24%, up 11.20 points to close at 356.90.
Lagging names
- Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was the weakest name on the index, sliding 5.22% - a fall of 211.00 points - to trade at 3,828.00 at the close.
- Weir Group PLC (LON:WEIR) fell 4.92%, down 140.00 points to finish at 2,706.00.
- Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) dropped 4.86%, or 154.00 points, to end at 3,016.00.
Market breadth on the London Stock Exchange favored decliners, with 1,144 stocks falling versus 608 advancing. A further 521 shares finished unchanged.
Commodities and currencies
- Gold Futures for December delivery declined 1.42%, down 63.45 to $4,418.05 a troy ounce at the close.
- Crude oil for October delivery rose 3.10%, up 2.66 to $88.42 a barrel.
- The December Brent oil contract gained 4.91%, or 4.34, to trade at $92.71 a barrel.
In currency trading, GBP/USD was effectively unchanged, moving 0.17% to 1.35, while EUR/GBP was unchanged by 0.05% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.23% to 99.61 at the close.
