London shares finished the session modestly lower on Friday, as weakness in Fixed Line Telecommunications, Support Services and Software & Computer Services weighed on the broader market.
At the close in London the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.05%.
Top performers included Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which advanced 3.29% or 9.80 points to close at 307.40. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) rose 2.70% or 3.30 points to finish at 125.60, marking a move to three-year highs. B&M European Value Retail PLC (LON:BMEB) also gained, up 1.89% or 4.20 points to 227.00.
Lagging stocks were led by Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which tumbled 4.38% or 129.00 points to end at 2,814.00. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) fell 2.35% or 11.80 points to 491.00 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) dropped 2.06% or 55.00 points to 2,620.00.
Market breadth on the London Stock Exchange showed more risers than fallers, with 951 stocks higher versus 730 that declined; 572 issues finished unchanged.
In the commodities complex, Gold Futures for December delivery moved lower, down 1.25% or 56.74 to $4,483.16 a troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery declined 0.49% or 0.45 to $90.85 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract inched up 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $95.53 a barrel.
On the currency front, GBP/USD was effectively flat, changing 0.02% to 1.35, and EUR/GBP was also unchanged at 0.86, moving by 0.01%.
The US Dollar Index Futures was higher by 0.19% at 99.07.
