Greece's equities finished the trading day in negative territory on Thursday, with sectoral weakness in Telecoms, Household and Basic Resources pushing the main index lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite was down 0.15%.
The session's strongest performers included Optima bank SA (AT:OPTIMAr), which climbed 5.45% - an increase of 0.66 points - to finish at 12.76. Optima's shares hit an all-time high during the session, closing up 5.45% or 0.66 to 12.76. Athens International Airport SA (AT:AIAr) advanced 3.95% or 0.41 points to close at 10.80, while Performance Technologies IT Solutions (AT:PREFr) gained 3.33% or 0.33 points to end the day at 10.24.
On the downside, Gr Sarantis SA (AT:SRSr) led losses after falling 4.02% or 0.52 points to close at 12.40. Avax SA (AT:AVAr) dropped 3.59% or 0.13 points to finish at 3.36, and Motor Oil Hellas Corinth Refineries SA (AT:MORr) declined 3.57% or 2.40 points to end at 64.80.
Market internals showed more falling stocks than rising ones on the Athens Stock Exchange, with 66 decliners versus 40 advancers, and 26 stocks finishing unchanged.
Commodities and currencies
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery fell 1.41% - down 62.81 - to $4,397.89 a troy ounce. Crude oil for October delivery rose 4.02% or 3.86 to reach $99.91 a barrel, while the November Brent contract gained 4.12% or 4.17 to trade at $105.38 a barrel.
On the foreign-exchange front, EUR/USD was essentially unchanged, moving 0.03% to 1.16, and EUR/GBP was flat at 0.86, up 0.12%.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 98.91.
