Poland's equity market closed in positive territory on Friday, with the WIG30 finishing the session up 0.51% in Warsaw. Gains were led by sectors such as Basic Materials, Information Technology and Chemicals, which helped push the index higher by the close.

On the downside, Benefit Systems SA (WA:BFT) was the weakest performer on the WIG30, sliding 3.23% - a fall of 180.00 points - to end the day at 5,395.00. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 2.02%, down 0.17 points to 8.25, while Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) gave up 1.83%, or 2.86 points, to close at 153.14.

Market breadth in Warsaw favored advancing issues: 286 stocks rose versus 237 that fell, and 112 stocks finished unchanged.

Commodities traded with mixed outcomes. Crude oil for October delivery slipped 0.20%, down 0.17, to $86.66 a barrel. Brent oil for October delivery moved higher by 0.36%, gaining 0.34 to $94.12 a barrel. Precious metals saw a notable uptick as the December Gold Futures contract rose 2.01%, up 92.04, to trade at $4,663.44 a troy ounce.

In foreign exchange, EUR/PLN was down 0.13% to 4.31, while USD/PLN was recorded as unchanged 0.13% to 3.69. The US Dollar Index Futures declined 0.04% to 98.77.

The session reflected selective strength across Polish large caps, with the biggest gains concentrated in retail and materials-related names, while utility and energy-related names, along with some service-sector stocks, underperformed. Volume and broader participation were sufficient to produce a positive breadth reading at the close.
