Russian equities finished the trading day in Moscow lower on Wednesday, with sector-level weakness in Power, Mining and Manufacturing contributing to a decline in the broader market.
At the close, the MOEX Russia Index declined 0.34%.
Among individual stocks, Federal Hydro Generating Company RusHydro PJSC (MCX:HYDR) was the session's top gainer on the MOEX Russia Index, advancing 3.70% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.36 at the close. GMK Noril’skiy Nikel’ PAO (MCX:GMKN) added 2.91% or 3.70 points to finish at 129.30, while Novolipetsk Steel (MCX:NLMK) rose 2.80% or 1.94 points to end the session at 71.30.
On the weaker side, ROSSETI PJSC (MCX:FEES) was reported with an unchanged 1.63% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.05 at the close. Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM) declined 1.06% or 0.10 points to close at 9.55. Mobil’nye Telesistemy PJSC (MCX:MTSS) registered a modest gain of 0.16% or 0.30 points to reach 184.65 in late trade.
Advancers outnumbered decliners on the Moscow Exchange, with 158 stocks rising, 80 falling and 17 finishing unchanged.
The Russian Volatility Index - RVI, which reflects the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, moved lower, falling 9.52% to 41.52.
Commodities closed mixed. Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.86% or 37.90 to $4,434.30 a troy ounce. In energy markets, Crude oil for October delivery rose 0.45% or 0.41 to $90.63 a barrel, while the November Brent contract climbed 0.07% or 0.07 to trade at $95.32 a barrel.
Foreign exchange rates against the ruble were stable at the close: USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 87.65, while EUR/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 101.06.
Elsewhere, US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 99.53.
