Spain's equity market closed with a slight loss on Friday, as the IBEX 35 finished the session down 0.06% in Madrid. Sector pressure from Building & Construction, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services led the overall decline, even as a handful of prominent names posted gains.

Commodities and energy
Commodities trading was mixed. Gold futures for December delivery increased 0.63% - a rise of 27.85 - to $4,448.25 per troy ounce. In the oil complex, September delivery crude oil climbed 0.36% or 0.29 to $81.54 a barrel, while the October Brent contract rose 0.69% or 0.60 to $87.67 a barrel.
Currencies and dollar index
Currency moves were modest. The euro strengthened versus the dollar, with EUR/USD up 0.43% to 1.16. EUR/GBP was effectively unchanged, moving 0.07% to 0.85. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 99.45, reflecting a softer dollar in futures trading.
Overall, the session in Madrid presented a split picture: sector-level pressure pushed the headline index slightly lower while select names in travel and energy supported pockets of strength. The broader market displayed more sellers than buyers at the close.
