Not all names moved higher. Orion Oyj B (HE:ORNBV) recorded the steepest decline among the group, slipping 3.13% or 2.50 points to close at 77.40. Mandatum Oyj (HE:MANTA) fell 2.11%, down 0.14 points to 6.27, while Outokumpu Oyj (HE:OUT1V) retreated 1.31% or 0.08 points to 5.67.

Market breadth in Helsinki was positive on the day: 97 stocks advanced, 79 declined and 17 were unchanged.

Commodities moved higher during the session. Brent crude for October delivery rose 0.83%, or $0.72, to $87.79 a barrel. US crude for September delivery climbed 0.53%, or $0.43, to $81.68 a barrel. In metals, the December Gold Futures contract increased 0.65%, or $28.82, to trade at $4,449.22 a troy ounce.

Currency markets saw the euro strengthen against the dollar, with EUR/USD up 0.45% to 1.16. EUR/GBP was effectively unchanged, moving 0.06% to 0.85. The US Dollar Index Futures eased 0.42% to 99.44 by the close.
