Spain's equity benchmark ended the session in Madrid on Tuesday with a modest retreat. The IBEX 35 closed down 0.48%, pressured principally by losses in the Building & Construction, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors.

The closing snapshot of the IBEX 35 read 17,670.10, down 85.00 points (-0.48%) at the close. Additional intraday summaries and indicators reflected the session's mix of sector-level pressure in construction and consumer-related names alongside select pockets of strength in telecom and consumer discretionary equipment suppliers.

Below is a recap of the named movers and selected market metrics from the session:

  • Top performers: Cellnex Telecom SA (CLNX) +1.85% to 29.14; Telefonica (TEF) +1.83% to 4.11; Fluidra (FLUI) +1.38% to 19.08.
  • Largest declines: SOLARIA (SLRS) -5.90% to 23.46; ACS (ACS) -5.62% to 124.30; Acciona (ANA) -3.16% to 251.00.
  • Commodities: Gold (GC) -1.16% to $4,504.90/oz; Brent (LCO) -1.03% to $110.95/bbl; Crude (CL) -0.48% to $103.88/bbl.
  • FX and indices: EUR/USD -0.49% at 1.16; EUR/GBP 0.87 (unchanged 0.26%); US Dollar Index (DX) +0.22% at 99.32.

The session data underline a day in which sector-specific weakness, particularly in building and construction and parts of the consumer complex, coincided with declines in select commodities and a modest strengthening of the U.S. dollar. Trading volume and breadth metrics showed more names falling than rising, reflecting the session's downward tilt.

Risks

  • Concentration of declines in Building & Construction and consumer sectors may increase volatility within those industry groups.
  • Movements in commodities (gold and crude oil) could amplify market swings for resource-linked names and investor sentiment.
  • A firmer U.S. dollar and shifts in FX rates like EUR/USD may create currency-related pressures for exporters and euro-denominated assets.
