Sweden's equity market ended the trading day higher on Friday as sector advances in Industrials, Basic Materials and Financials pushed the overall market up.
At the close in Stockholm, the OMX Stockholm 30 gained 1.97%, marking a new one-month high for the index.
Top performers
- Lifco publ AB (ST:LIFCOb) led the index, rising 5.37% or 16.60 points to close at 326.00.
- AB SKF B (ST:SKFb) added 4.38% or 10.50 points to finish at 250.20.
- EQT AB (ST:EQTAB) climbed 4.30% or 13.50 points to end the session at 327.20.
Largest decliners
- Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson Class B (ST:ERICb) was the weakest on the index, down 4.13% or 4.55 points to 105.70 at the close.
- Tele2 AB (ST:TEL2b) declined 1.45% or 2.75 points to close at 187.45.
- Telia Company AB (ST:TELIA) slipped 1.01% or 0.47 points to end at 46.26.
Market breadth favored advancing issues on the Stockholm exchange, with 487 stocks up, 265 stocks down and 57 unchanged at the close.
Commodities and currencies
Crude oil for May delivery fell 12.29% or 11.64 to trade at $83.05 a barrel. Brent oil for June delivery dropped 10.63% or 10.57 to $88.82 a barrel. The June Gold Futures contract advanced 1.79% or 85.96 to trade at $4,894.26 per troy ounce.
In foreign exchange markets, EUR/SEK was down 0.38% at 10.78, while USD/SEK fell 0.50% to 9.14. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 97.78.
Overall, the session saw broad gains led by industrial, materials and financial names, concurrent with significant falls in crude and Brent oil prices and a rise in gold futures.
