Among individual components, Puig Brands SA (BME:PUIGb) was the top performer, finishing the session 1.77% higher - up 0.32 points to 18.40. Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BME:BBVA) also contributed to the rally, adding 1.54% or 0.38 points to close at 25.04. Indra A (BME:IDR) advanced 1.43%, gaining 0.88 points to end at 62.38.

Not all stocks participated in the upswing. SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS) fell 1.50%, or 0.27 points, to 17.44. Aena SME SA (BME:AENA) slipped 1.34%, down 0.36 points to a close of 26.42, while Laboratorios Farmaceuticos ROVI (BME:ROVI) lost 1.30% or 0.80 points to finish at 60.70.

At the close, rising issues outnumbered decliners on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 96 to 78, with 24 stocks finishing unchanged.


Commodities and currencies registered moves alongside the equity market. Gold Futures for December delivery declined 2.20% - a drop of 102.45 - to trade at $4,561.55 a troy ounce. In crude markets, October delivery West Texas Intermediate fell 0.51% or 0.43 to $83.10 a barrel, and the November Brent contract eased 0.59% or 0.52 to $88.00 a barrel.

Currency markets saw the euro weaken versus the dollar, with EUR/USD down 0.51% to 1.16. EUR/GBP was reported at 0.86, noted as unchanged 0.22%. The US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.47% to 99.56.

Overall, the session closed with the IBEX higher as sector-level strength in financials, consumer goods and materials helped offset weakness in several individual stocks.
