Unipro PJSC (MCX:UPRO) rose 7.75% or 0.07 points to finish at 0.94, while Moskovskaya Birzha PJSC (MCX:MOEX) advanced 6.52% or 9.58 points to 156.40 in late trade.
On the downside, OZON (MCX:OZON) fell 2.90% or 79.00 points to close at 2,647.00. GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS (MCX:AGRODR) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to end at 1,083.80, and Surgutneftegas PJSC Pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was up 0.63% or 0.23 points to 36.56.
Market breadth on the Moscow Stock Exchange favored advancers by a wide margin: rising stocks outnumbered decliners 216 to 27, with 10 issues finishing unchanged.
Two components of the session reached 52-week lows: shares of OZON fell to their 52-week low, closing down 2.90% or 79.00 at 2,647.00. Separately, GDR ROS AGRO PLC ORD SHS was unchanged to 52-week lows; the security was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 1,083.80.
The Russian Volatility Index - RVI, which tracks implied volatility for MOEX Russia Index options, declined 2.66% to 47.87 by the close.
Commodity markets were mixed during the session. Gold futures for August delivery rose 0.14% or 5.50 to $4,055.70 a troy ounce. In energy markets, crude oil for September delivery fell 1.30% or 1.13 to $85.88 a barrel, while the September Brent contract declined 2.33% or 2.35 to trade at $98.34 a barrel.
