American Honda Motor reported robust retail results for June and the first half of 2026, driven by stronger passenger-car demand and a growing share of hybrid powertrains.
June unit sales rose 17% to 133,781 vehicles, the company said, its best June performance in five years. For the first half, American Honda delivered 756,920 units, an increase of 2.4% compared with the same period last year, which the company described as its best first-half and quarterly outcome since 2021.
The overall Honda brand accounted for 687,205 units in the first half, up 2.5% year-over-year. June volumes for the Honda marque climbed 17% versus a year earlier. Hybrid models represented roughly 30% of total Honda sales in June, with the CR-V hybrid trims comprising 51% of that model’s June mix.
Honda also flagged strong performance from its passenger-car lineup. The company reported the strongest June, first-half, and quarterly figures for Honda passenger cars in five years, with June up 28%, first-half sales up 14%, and quarter-over-quarter sales up 20%.
The CR-V emerged as a standout, ranking as the top-selling SUV in the U.S. for 2026. First-half CR-V deliveries exceeded 226,114 units, a 6% rise from the prior year. CR-V hybrid variants reached 124,017 units in the first half, which the company said set an all-time record for that powertrain configuration.
Other model-level highlights included Passport and Accord. Passport posted first-half sales of 30,360 units, a record for the model, with TrailSport trims accounting for more than 80% of Passport sales. Accord recorded a more than 32% increase in first-half sales and a 41% gain for the quarter, with hybrid trims representing 43% of Accord’s sales mix.
The Acura brand also delivered gains. Acura sales were up 13% in June and rose 2% for the first half to 69,715 units, which the company reported as the brand’s best first-half showing since 2023. The Acura ADX recorded June sales of more than 3,100 units, a 58% increase, and year-to-date sales of 16,554 units. The ADX holds roughly 30% of retail sales in its segment, according to Honda.
Integra continued to gain traction, with June sales up 85% and first-half sales rising 42% to more than 14,000 units. The model maintains in excess of 40% of retail sales in its segment.
Commenting on the results, Lance Woelfer, Vice President of Auto Sales at American Honda Motor Co., said: "At a time when affordability is more important than ever, the exceptional value offered by Honda and Acura is helping us retain customers and attract buyers from competing brands."
Context and takeaways
- June marked Honda’s strongest month in that calendar period over the last five years, with notable strength in passenger cars and hybrid adoption.
- Model concentration is visible: CR-V and its hybrid variants, Passport TrailSport, Accord hybrids, ADX, and Integra accounted for substantial portions of growth.
- First-half volumes set company benchmarks for recent years, with the firm describing the period as its best since 2021 for both the half and the quarter.
These figures underscore the brand mix shift toward electrified powertrains within Honda’s lineup and the continued importance of crossover SUVs and value-oriented trims in supporting retail demand.
