Frankfurt session closes higher as DAX gains 0.56% led by consumer and software stocks

Germany's equity benchmarks ended Friday's trading in positive territory, with the DAX rising 0.56%, the MDAX up 1.09% and the TecDAX gaining 0.53%. Strength in Food & Beverages, Software and Consumer & Cyclical names supported the advance. Individual stock performance was mixed, with Adidas, Scout24 and BMW among the top DAX gainers while MTU Aero Engines, Fresenius Medical Care and Bayer finished lower. At the close in Frankfurt, the benchmark DAX rose 0.56%, the MDAX climbed 1.09% and the TecDAX increased 0.53%.

On the DAX, Adidas AG (ETR:ADSGn) was the session's strongest performer, finishing up 2.28% or 3.45 points at 154.45. Scout24 AG (ETR:G24n) added 1.71% or 1.30 points to end at 77.45, and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (ETR:BMWG) gained 1.66% or 0.96 points to close at 58.88.

At the other end of the DAX leaderboard, MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (ETR:MTXGn) slipped 1.92% or 6.90 points to finish at 352.40. Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (ETR:FMEG) declined 1.83% or 0.75 points to 40.14, and Bayer AG NA (ETR:BAYGn) was down 1.17% or 0.57 points to 48.04.

Within the MDAX, Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (ETR:TKAG) led movers by rising 5.61% to 13.37. K+S AG (ETR:SDFGn) advanced 5.41% to settle at 16.38, and Kion Group AG (ETR:KGX) gained 3.97% to close at 41.10. Conversely, Fielmann AG (ETR:FIEG) suffered the steepest decline in the MDAX, falling 6.58% to 39.05, while Redcare Pharmacy NV (ETR:RDC) lost 2.44% to 61.90 and TKMS GmbH (ETR:TKMS) eased 1.51% to 91.60.

On the TecDAX, Atoss Software AG (ETR:AOFG) led gains with a 3.16% increase to 98.00. IONOS Group SE (ETR:IOSn) climbed 2.91% to 33.94 and Siltronic AG (ETR:WAFGn) rose 2.76% to close at 83.90.

Additional notable moves included SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92G), which dropped 1.39% to 56.80, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:SATG_p), down 0.84% to 246.80, and Hensoldt Ag (ETR:HAGG), which fell 0.76% to 89.30.

Market breadth on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange favored advancers: 389 stocks rose, 251 declined and 46 finished unchanged.

Fielmann AG (ETR:FIEG) moved to a 52-week low during the session, falling 6.58% or 2.75 to 39.05.

Volatility and commodity markets showed movement alongside equities. The DAX volatility index, which measures implied volatility of DAX options, rose 3.67% to 17.01. Gold Futures for December delivery were up 2.19% or 100.24 to $4,671.64 a troy ounce. In energy markets, Crude oil for October delivery rose 0.13% or 0.11 to $86.94 a barrel, and the October Brent contract increased 0.67% or 0.63 to $94.41 a barrel.

In FX trading, EUR/USD was essentially unchanged, moving 0.03% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP was flat at 0.86 after a 0.04% change. The US Dollar Index Futures declined 0.07% to 98.75.
