This session's breadth and individual stock moves highlight volatility at the company level despite the broader index advance, with pronounced winners and losers across mid-cap segments and continued activity in commodities and forex markets.

Risks

  • Sharp individual stock swings show elevated single-name risk in mid-cap segments, affecting sectors such as electronic components and industrial suppliers.
  • Divergence between strong index performance and numerous individual drops may indicate uneven market breadth, which could increase sector-specific volatility.
  • Movements in commodities and currencies - including oil, gold and USD/TWD - introduce macro-sensitive risks for exporters and importers in Taiwan's economy.
