Spectrum by Charter Communications is guaranteeing new customers who move their internet and at least two mobile lines from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon will save $1,000 in their first year. If the customer’s first-year savings fall short, Spectrum will credit the difference over the year. The offer includes access to Fiber-Powered Premier Internet, Spectrum Mobile plans, a two-year price lock and same- or next-day internet installation.

Key Points

  • Spectrum guarantees $1,000 in first-year savings for new customers who switch both their internet and at least two mobile lines from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon.
  • Pricing for the offer starts at $30 per month for each product with taxes and fees included, and customers can lock in a two-year price guarantee.
  • Spectrum’s network and service proposition includes a Fiber Broadband Network of more than one million miles, speeds up to 1 Gig, Spectrum Mobile with 5G access and Seamless Entertainment that bundles live TV and streaming apps valued at more than $125 per month.

Spectrum, the consumer brand of Charter Communications, announced a first-year savings guarantee for customers who switch both their internet service and at least two mobile lines from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon to Spectrum Internet and Spectrum Mobile.

Under the program, new customers who move their internet account and a minimum of two Unlimited or Unlimited Plus Spectrum Mobile lines to Spectrum will receive a guarantee of $1,000 in total savings during their first 12 months. The company said it will calculate savings by comparing the customer’s prior wireless and internet bills to the cost of Spectrum Internet plus the selected Spectrum Mobile lines.

If the analysis shows less than $1,000 in first-year savings, Spectrum will make up the difference. For example, if a customer’s switch is projected to deliver only $800 in savings during the first year, Spectrum will credit the remaining $200 to the customer in monthly installments spread across the year.

Pricing for these offers starts at $30 per month for each product - internet and mobile - with taxes and fees included, and customers can lock in those prices for two years. Spectrum said customers can enroll by uploading their previous wireless bill from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, together with their prior internet bill, to support the comparison.

The company highlighted add-on service features tied to the offer. Internet customers can access Spectrum’s Fiber-Powered Premier Internet, with speeds up to 1 Gig available across its operating footprint. Spectrum operates a Fiber Broadband Network that covers more than one million miles nationwide and offers same- or next-day installation for internet service.

Spectrum Mobile, which the company describes as the nation’s fastest-growing mobile provider, includes plans with 5G access, no contracts and unlimited talk, text and data. The company said nearly 90% of Spectrum’s mobile traffic travels over the Spectrum Fiber Broadband Network at higher speeds, and Spectrum Mobile customers experience the fastest wireless speeds when connected to Spectrum WiFi.

In addition to internet and mobile services, Spectrum promotes a Seamless Entertainment offering that provides live TV along with popular streaming apps at no extra cost to customers who have eligible Spectrum TV plans. The company estimated that this collection of streaming app access represents more than $125 per month in retail streaming app value.

Key operational points of the guarantee:

  • The $1,000 savings guarantee applies only to new customers switching from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon who take Spectrum Internet and at least two Spectrum Mobile lines.
  • Customers must upload prior wireless and internet bills so Spectrum can perform the cost comparison.
  • If projected savings are below $1,000 in the first year, Spectrum credits the difference to the customer in monthly installments over that year.

The program is positioned as a combined broadband and mobile acquisition initiative and is offered alongside Spectrum’s two-year price guarantee and expedited internet installation options.

Risks

  • Guarantee applies only to customers who meet the eligibility criteria - new customers switching from AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon and subscribing to Spectrum Internet plus at least two Spectrum Mobile lines - so many consumers may not qualify.
  • Savings are based on comparisons of uploaded prior wireless and internet bills; discrepancies or incomplete submissions could affect the assessed savings and the resulting credit.
  • The $1,000 guarantee is delivered as credits if projected savings fall short, which means customers receive the shortfall in monthly installments over the year rather than as a single upfront payment.
