On the downside, ROSSETI PJSC (MCX:FEES) was cited among the worst performers, described as unchanged 3.20% or 0.00 points to trade at 0.05 at the close. Bank VTB PJSC (MCX:VTBR) fell 2.92%, a move of 1.71 points, to finish at 56.70. Telecommunications firm Rostelekom PJSC (MCX:RTKM) declined 2.55%, or 1.07 points, to end the session at 40.91.

Breadth on the Moscow Stock Exchange favored decliners: 150 names fell, 99 advanced and 4 remained unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index - RVI, which reflects the market's implied volatility derived from MOEX Russia Index options, eased 0.85% to 47.59 by the close.

Commodities moved unevenly. Gold Futures for August delivery slipped 1.18%, a loss of 48.20, to trade at 4,028.80 a troy ounce. In crude markets, September delivery for U.S. crude dropped 3.99%, down 3.20, to $77.05 a barrel, while the October Brent contract rose 0.88%, or 0.72, to $82.54 a barrel.

On the foreign exchange front, USD/RUB was unchanged at 78.66 and EUR/RUB was unchanged at 89.56.

For reference, the US Dollar Index Futures was reported down 0.11% at 101.28 during related market commentary.
