Lockheed Martin secured three Department of Defense contract modifications totaling about $101 million. Awards cover operation and maintenance of AEGIS test sites, on-site engineering and test support for F-35 electromagnetic environmental effects, and an increase to a large-lot missile procurement contract that raises the program total to $9.6 billion. Work will be carried out at multiple U.S. facilities and includes Foreign Military Sales participants.

Key Points

  • Total of roughly $101 million in contract modifications divided among Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems, Aeronautics, and Missiles and Fire Control.
  • Contracts cover AEGIS test site operations and maintenance (completion January 2027), F-35 electromagnetic environmental effects test support (completion June 2027), and an increase to a missile procurement contract now valued at $9.6 billion (completion August 29, 2029).
  • Foreign Military Sales are included in the AEGIS modification, with Japan receiving the largest share (52%), followed by South Korea (19%), Canada (13%), Australia (10%), Norway (4%), and Germany and Spain at less than 1% each.

Lockheed Martin has received three contract modifications from U.S. defense procurement authorities that together amount to roughly $101 million, according to the contract notices. The awards are divided among the company’s Rotary and Mission Systems, Aeronautics, and Missiles and Fire Control business units and cover a range of engineering, testing and production support activities.

AEGIS test site operations and maintenance

The Department of War awarded Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems a $26.2 million cost-plus-incentive-fee modification to operate and maintain AEGIS development and test sites. Work under this modification is scheduled to be performed at the Combat Systems Engineering Development Site, the SPY-1A Test Facility, and the Naval Systems Computing Center in Moorestown, New Jersey. Completion for this effort is expected by January 2027.

The modification bundles purchases for seven foreign governments through the Foreign Military Sales program. Japan represents the largest share at 52% of the award value, equal to $8.8 million. South Korea accounts for 19% ($3.2 million); Canada 13% ($2.3 million); Australia 10% ($1.7 million); Norway 4% ($789,754); and Germany and Spain each represent less than 1% of the total, at $155,014 and $72,593 respectively.

F-35 electromagnetic environmental effects testing support

In a separate action, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics was granted a $24.6 million modification to provide on-site engineering, specialized ground test software, maintenance, and troubleshooting for Electromagnetic Environmental Effects production acceptance compliance tests. That work will support F-35 aircraft for the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and non-U.S. Department of War participants, with completion anticipated by June 2027.

Missile procurement contract modification

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control secured a $50.5 million firm-fixed-price modification related to the Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile and Long-Range Anti-Ship Missile Large Lot Procurement. This modification raises the total contract value from $9.5 billion to $9.6 billion. Work for this award will be performed in Orlando, Florida, with a completion date of August 29, 2029.

The contracting activities named for these awards are the Naval Sea Systems Command, the Naval Air Systems Command, and the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, respectively. The notices specify locations, values, and expected completion dates for each modification.

Clear summary

Lockheed Martin received three Department of War contract modifications totaling about $101 million. The awards cover operation and maintenance of AEGIS test facilities, engineering and test support for F-35 electromagnetic environmental effects compliance, and a modification that increases a missile procurement contract’s value to $9.6 billion. Work locations include Moorestown, New Jersey, and Orlando, Florida, and completion dates range from January 2027 to August 29, 2029.

Risks

  • Schedule risk tied to completion timelines specified in the modifications - AEGIS site work is expected to finish by January 2027, F-35 testing support by June 2027, and missile procurement work by August 29, 2029 - delays could affect delivery milestones and program costs.
  • Dependence on Foreign Military Sales participants for a portion of the AEGIS modification introduces variability tied to the participating international customers and the aggregated procurement schedule.
  • Scope and complexity across multiple programs and sites - the contracts span test facilities, on-site engineering support and large-lot procurement - which may present coordination and execution uncertainties for the defense and aerospace sectors.
