Leidos Holdings Inc reported a positive market reaction after it said it will speed up the migration of eight additional Defense Agencies and Field Activities into DODNet, the Defense Information Systems Agency’s modernized network environment. Shares advanced 2.9% on Thursday following the announcement.
The company outlined plans to transition in excess of 100,000 users to DODNet over the coming 18 months. The migration will encompass large defense entities, notably the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) and the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and is part of the broader Defense Enclave Services program valued at $11.5 billion over 10 years.
Heidi VanNoy, vice president and division manager at Leidos, framed the next phase as a push for quicker, smoother moves into the consolidated DODNet environment. "Launching the next phase of transformation means executing faster, more seamless migrations to DODNet and advancing the Department of War’s goal to achieve greater savings and efficiencies through enterprise IT consolidation," she said.
Leidos took operational leadership of the DODNet program in February 2022. Since then, the company has been working to fold 26 separate networks and 12 help desks into a single environment. The current acceleration extends the company’s work following the earlier transition of five agencies completed earlier this year.
The DODNet effort aligns with Leidos’ stated NorthStar 2030 strategy, which emphasizes digital modernization and cyber solutions as growth drivers. According to the company, the program is intended to improve user experience, support progress toward Zero Trust compliance, and enhance mission readiness for defense agencies.
Market and program context
- Stock reaction: Leidos shares rose 2.9% on the day of the announcement.
- Scope: More than 100,000 users to be migrated over an 18-month period.
- Program scale: Migration is within the $11.5 billion, 10-year Defense Enclave Services program.
This relocation and consolidation initiative remains operationally complex given the number of networks and help desks involved, and the company is positioning the effort as central to its digital and cyber growth agenda.
