Turkey's equity benchmark closed lower on Tuesday, with the BIST 100 easing 0.30% as losses concentrated in Sports, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Metal Products & Machinery sectors. A handful of names posted sizable gains and losses, while commodity prices and currency pairs showed mixed moves during the session.

Turkey's main equity gauge finished the trading day in negative territory on Tuesday, with the BIST 100 easing 0.30% at the close in Istanbul. Market weakness was driven by declines in several industry groups, notably Sports, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Metal Products & Machinery.

The session's strongest performers were led by Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS (IS:KTLEV), which climbed 9.82% - a gain of 3.70 points - to finish at 41.36. Turk Altin Isletmeleri AS (IS:TRALT) added 7.78% or 3.76 points to close at 52.10, while Borusan Birlesik Boru Fabrikalari Sanayi Ve Ticaret AS (IS:BRSAN) rose 5.99% - 43.50 points - to end the day at 769.50.

On the downside, Pasifik Eurasia Lojistik Dis Ticaret AS (IS:PASEU) posted the steepest fall, dropping 9.94% or 15.80 points to finish at 143.10. Turk Traktor ve Ziraat Makineleri AS (IS:TTRAK) declined 7.65% - a loss of 46.50 points - to close at 561.00, while Otokar Otomotiv ve Savunma Sanayi AS (IS:OTKAR) fell 3.95% or 18.25 points to 444.00 in late trade.

Market breadth was modestly positive by count, with 300 rising issues versus 283 decliners on the Istanbul Stock Exchange, and 29 stocks ending unchanged.

Notable intraday milestones included shares of Katilimevim Tasarruf Finansman AS reaching an all-time high, reflecting the 9.82% uptick to 41.36. Meanwhile, Borusan Birlesik Boru Fabrikalari's shares climbed to 52-week highs as the stock closed at 769.50 following a 5.99% advance.

Commodities and currency markets were mixed during the session. Gold Futures for April delivery were down 0.56%, a fall of 28.59, settling at $5,050.81 a troy ounce. Crude oil for delivery in March edged up 0.22% or 0.14 to $64.50 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.36% or 0.25 to trade at $69.29 a barrel.

In currency moves, USD/TRY was up 0.12% at 43.63, and EUR/TRY edged lower by 0.01% to 51.96. The US Dollar Index Futures finished the session down 0.02% at 96.67.
