Intuitive Machines (NASDAQ:LUNR) said Monday it was selected by the U.S. Space Force for the Andromeda IDIQ contract, a vehicle aimed at advancing space surveillance capabilities. Under the contract, the company will be eligible to compete to design, develop and field Space Domain Awareness systems intended to detect, track and characterize objects located in geosynchronous orbit.
The Andromeda contract is structured to supply Space Domain Awareness mission solutions for the U.S. Space Force through 2030 and beyond. The selection announced by the company represents its first significant contract award since completing its acquisition of Lanteris Space, according to the company’s statement posted on X on Monday.
Intuitive Machines said it will apply combined capabilities from both organizations to create next-generation surveillance technology tailored for the geosynchronous belt. The company emphasized that it plans to use commercial-based processes to deliver high-performance systems under the contract.
As an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity - IDIQ - vehicle, the Andromeda contract allows multiple contractors to be awarded onto the contract and then compete for individual task orders. Intuitive Machines’ selection places it among the contractors who can now vie for task orders to field operational Space Domain Awareness capabilities for the U.S. Space Force.
The company disclosed the award details via a statement posted to X on Monday. The announcement underscores an expansion of Intuitive Machines’ potential addressable market in defense-related space surveillance activities following its strategic acquisition. Specific task orders, timelines, and technical scopes for any future awards under Andromeda were not included in the company’s announcement.
