Helsinki equity markets ended the trading day on a positive note as gains in Telecoms, Utilities and Industrials helped drive the main benchmark higher. At the close, the OMX Helsinki 25 had risen 1.56%.
The session's largest winners on the OMX Helsinki 25 included Hiab Oyj (HE:HIAB), which climbed 7.12% - a 4.05 point increase - to finish at 60.95. Nokia Oyj (HE:NOKIA) gained 6.24%, adding 0.85 points to close at 14.39, and Metso Oyj (HE:METSO) advanced 3.89%, up 0.61 points to 16.29 late in the session.
On the downside, Neste Oyj (HE:NESTE) fell 1.74%, down 0.52 points to 29.39 at the close. Lumo Kodit Oyj (HE:LUMO) declined 1.65%, losing 0.12 points to end at 7.17, while Orion Oyj B (HE:ORNBV) eased 1.32%, a 0.90 point drop to 67.20.
Market breadth on the Helsinki Stock Exchange favored gainers, with 93 stocks advancing against 77 decliners and 21 issues unchanged.
Certain individual stock records and milestones were noted during the session. Shares of Hiab Oyj (HE:HIAB) reached new all-time highs on the day, rising 7.12% to 60.95. Nokia Oyj (HE:NOKIA) climbed to five-year highs, gaining 6.24% to 14.39. Conversely, Lumo Kodit Oyj (HE:LUMO) traded down to all-time lows, falling 1.65% to 7.17.
Commodities and currency markets saw modest movement. Brent oil for August delivery rose 0.52%, up 0.49, to $95.47 a barrel. US crude for July delivery increased 0.74%, gaining 0.68 to $92.84 a barrel. The August gold futures contract was higher by 0.56%, up 25.45, to trade at $4,531.75 a troy ounce.
In FX markets, EUR/USD was essentially unchanged, moving 0.08% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP was effectively flat, shifting 0.02% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures declined 0.06% to 99.09.
