Denmark's principal benchmark closed lower on Thursday, with the OMX Copenhagen 20 slipping 0.76% at the final bell. Sector losses in Personal & Household Goods, Software & Computer Services and Financials were among the main drags on the index.
The session's strongest stocks on the OMX Copenhagen 20 were led by Zealand Pharma A/S (CSE:ZELA), which advanced 1.23% - a gain of 3.60 points to finish at 296.90. AP Moeller - Maersk A/S B (CSE:MAERSKb) also registered a rise, adding 0.85% or 145.00 points to close at 17,110.00. ISS A/S (CSE:ISS) climbed 0.76%, an increase of 2.20 points to end the day at 290.00.
At the other end of the spectrum, Novozymes AS (CSE:NSISb) led declines, sliding 3.41% - 14.50 points - to settle at 410.20. Coloplast A/S (CSE:COLOb) fell 3.16%, down 13.00 points to 398.80, and Carlsberg A/S B (CSE:CARLb) dropped 2.75%, losing 25.80 points to finish at 912.20.
Broad market breadth was negative: decliners outnumbered advancers by 81 to 35, while 15 stocks closed unchanged on the Copenhagen exchange.
Commodities markets reflected notable volatility during the session. Crude oil for September delivery rose 6.54% or 5.68, trading at $92.51 a barrel. Brent crude for September delivery gained 7.35% or 6.91 to reach $100.98 a barrel. Precious metals moved in the opposite direction: the August Gold Futures contract fell 2.47% or 102.68, trading at $4,049.22 a troy ounce.
In foreign-exchange trading, USD/DKK increased 0.37% to 6.57, while EUR/DKK was effectively unchanged, moving 0.02% to 7.48. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 101.35.
Thursday's session produced a mix of outcomes across individual names and asset classes: a modest retreat for the Danish benchmark, sizeable gains in crude markets, and a pronounced pullback in gold futures. Market participants will watch whether the oil rally and FX moves feed through to earnings and sector rotations in coming sessions.
