Stocks in Denmark ended the trading session lower on Monday as sector-level weakness in Technology, Healthcare and Real Estate pressured the benchmark. At the close in Copenhagen the OMX Copenhagen 20 slipped 0.73%.
The session produced a mix of individual winners and losers among the 20-stock index. The top-performing names included AL Sydbank A/S (CSE:ALSYDB), which advanced 1.42% or 9.50 points to finish at 679.50. The shares in AL Sydbank rose to an all-time high at the close.
Other gainers on the index were Demant A/S (CSE:DEMANT), up 1.12% or 3.20 points to 288.60, and Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CSE:VWS), which added 1.09% or 2.30 points to close at 213.80.
On the downside, Zealand Pharma A/S (CSE:ZELA) led losses, falling 4.12% or 12.90 points to end the day at 300.00. Oersted AS (CSE:ORSTED) declined 2.37% or 3.30 points to 135.95, while AP Moeller - Maersk A/S B (CSE:MAERSKb) was down 1.96% or 430.00 points to 21,540.00.
Market breadth favored decliners: 78 stocks fell versus 45 advancers on the Copenhagen exchange, with 15 shares unchanged at the close.
Commodities trading outside equities showed meaningful moves. Crude oil for October delivery was up 2.49% or 2.08 to trade at $85.48 a barrel. Brent crude for December delivery rose 5.12% or 4.41 to $90.53 a barrel. In metals, the December Gold Futures contract fell 1.03% or 46.76 to trade at $4,483.14 a troy ounce.
In foreign exchange, USD/DKK moved lower by 0.28% to 6.43, while EUR/DKK was essentially unchanged, moving 0.03% to 7.48. The U.S. Dollar Index Futures was reported down 0.28% at 99.38.
This session’s price action underscores a divergence between sector performance and select large-cap moves: banking and industrial names posted gains, while pharmaceutical, utilities and shipping-related stocks were weaker. The overall OMX Copenhagen 20 decline of 0.73% reflects these offsetting forces across sectors.
