Anthropic on Tuesday announced a multi-platform expansion of Claude Cowork, moving the AI-driven collaborative work session product off of desktop-only availability and onto web and mobile devices. The company said beta access will be released over the next several weeks, with initial availability focused on Max users.
The update is designed to let users pick up tasks on different machines without interruption. Sessions can be started on a laptop and continued on a phone or in a browser tab, and scheduled tasks now complete even when the initiating device is offline. Mobile users will receive push alerts when Claude requires human input to advance a decision point.
Anthropic provided usage statistics to illustrate how customers employ Claude Cowork. According to the company, more than 90% of activity on Cowork is for work outside of software development; roughly half of all sessions are devoted to business operations and content creation. The desktop application will remain fully featured, preserving access to local files and browser integration where available.
An example offered by a customer demonstrates the cross-device workflow the company is promoting. Armmand Hosseini, identified as a customer success employee at Ramp, said he began building a client tracking dashboard on his laptop and then continued the same session on his phone while at baggage claim, showing continuity between devices.
In addition to broadening platform support, Anthropic is temporarily increasing usage allowances. The company announced it will double Cowork usage limits through August 5. Users can access the service through the web at claude.ai or by downloading the Claude app for iOS and Android.
