Anthropic has introduced a suite of ten agent templates tailored to financial services workflows, added Microsoft 365 add-ins for cross-application context transfer, and expanded partner connectors and MCP apps to give Claude real-time access to provider data and embedded tools. The updates operate on Claude Opus 4.7 and can run as plugins in Claude Cowork and Claude Code or as autonomous Claude Managed Agents.

Key Points

  • Anthropic released ten Claude agent templates covering research, credit/compliance, and finance operations tasks.
  • Microsoft 365 add-ins enable automatic context transfer between Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook once installed.
  • New data connectors and MCP apps provide real-time access to provider data and embed provider tools inside Claude, expanding its partner ecosystem.

Anthropic on Tuesday rolled out ten agent templates built for common financial services tasks including pitchbook generation, credit memo drafting, KYC file screening, and month-end closing.

The templates are distributed as plugins for Claude Cowork and Claude Code, and are also provided as cookbooks for deployment as Claude Managed Agents. Each template packages specific skills, connectors for data access, and subagents that handle discrete parts of a process. Firms can adapt these assets to reflect their own modeling conventions, risk controls, and approval workflows.

To facilitate use across standard office applications, Anthropic has integrated Claude with Microsoft 365 via add-ins for Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. Once these add-ins are installed, context transfers automatically between the applications, enabling continuity when moving from model building in Excel to deck updates in PowerPoint or memo edits in Word.

The company also expanded the Claude partner ecosystem with new data connectors and the launch of MCP apps that embed provider tools directly inside Claude. Connectors provide real-time access to provider data, while MCP apps allow provider functionality to be surfaced within the Claude environment.

The rollout is compatible with Claude Opus 4.7, which posted a score of 64.37% on Vals AI's Finance Agent benchmark. The templates are designed to operate in either collaborative or autonomous modes: as plugins running alongside analysts in Claude Cowork or Claude Code, or as autonomous Claude Managed Agents on the Claude Platform. In all cases, users retain the ability to review and approve Claude's outputs prior to client submission or regulatory filing.

Anthropic grouped the new templates into research and client coverage, credit/risk/compliance, and finance/operations categories. Research and client coverage templates comprise:

  • Pitch builder - for target lists and pitchbook creation
  • Meeting preparer - for client brief generation
  • Earnings reviewer - for transcript analysis
  • Model builder - for creating financial models

Credit, risk, and compliance templates include Market researcher for sector tracking and KYC screener for entity file review. Finance and operations templates cover Valuation reviewer, General ledger reconciler, Month-end closer, and Statement auditor.

Within Outlook, Claude can manage inbox triage and meeting logistics. In Excel, the agent builds models and audits formulas. In PowerPoint, it generates decks that refresh as underlying data changes. In Word, Claude edits credit memos. Claude Cowork also includes a feature called Dispatch for assigning voice or text work to agents.

Claude connects to a wide set of market data platforms and company data systems. Named integrations include S&P Capital IQ, MSCI, PitchBook, Morningstar, Chronograph, LSEG, and Daloopa. Anthropic also added several new connectors such as Dun & Bradstreet for business identity verification; Fiscal AI for equity fundamentals; Financial Modeling Prep for real-time quotes; Guidepoint and Third Bridge for expert interview transcripts; IBISWorld for industry data; SS&C IntraLinks for deal data rooms; and Verisk for insurance data.

Moody's launched an MCP app that provides credit ratings and access to data on more than 600 million companies to support compliance, credit analysis, and business development workflows.

These templates and integrations aim to place Claude into standard financial workflows across advisory, credit, compliance, and finance operations while preserving human review for material outputs.

Risks

  • Operational reliance on connectors and add-ins - disruptions or integration issues could impede cross-application context transfer and data access, affecting finance and compliance workflows.
  • Autonomous deployment risks - while templates can run as Claude Managed Agents, firms must ensure review and approval controls remain effective for client submission and filing, which impacts compliance and legal functions.
  • Data dependency - template effectiveness depends on the availability and accuracy of third-party provider data from platforms and connectors, which could influence credit analysis, sector research, and valuation tasks.
