Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) announced Token Tails as the organisation's top incubation project for 2025, singling out the initiative for its development of a blockchain-powered infrastructure designed to continuously finance real-world stray animal rescue at a measurable scale.
The designation was made public at BGAwards 2025 in Copenhagen during the Blockchain Impact Forum, where Token Tails was presented as the standout programme within the BGA Incubation Showcase. The recognition formalises the project's inclusion in BGA’s Ascend Incubation track, which is intended to support initiatives that aim to move beyond episodic charitable appeals toward sustained, verifiable systems of impact.
Token Tails’ approach embeds funding flows into platform interactions so that user participation generates automatic support for approved shelters. Rather than depending on intermittent donation drives, the project’s model is designed to function as an always-on mechanism that channels resources to verified shelter partners as users engage with the platform.
For shelter operators, Token Tails is building a consolidated system that records intake, medical histories, sponsorships, and adoption information, with clear links between those operational records and the funding that supports them. The team describes the initiative as evolving beyond a traditional charity: as infrastructure matures, Token Tails aims to position itself as an entertainment brand that creates animal welfare impact by default through its products and services.
As the top incubation project, Token Tails will receive targeted resources through BGA’s Ascend track. The package includes grant funding, access to the Alliance’s ecosystem partners, and customised advisory support that covers fundraising, go-to-market strategy, compliance, and partnerships, calibrated to the project's changing needs. The project will also receive marketing exposure and logistical support tied to BGA-led events.
Technical assistance has been provided by ecosystem partner Mantle. Mantle has committed 5,000 MNT in funding to Token Tails and is supplying tailored resources and advisory support in concert with BGA’s assistance.
The BGA selection process focuses on one leading project each year for deeper, bespoke incubation. In 2024, EthicHub received the Alliance’s top incubation recognition. Token Tails is expected to complete the current incubation cycle and graduate at the BGAwards in November 2026, at which point BGA will select the next leading project for its incubation programme.
Founding team and early performance
Žygimantas Bagdzevičius, founder of Token Tails, framed the project as a response to the scale and opacity of the stray animal challenge. “Token Tails was founded to fix a broken problem,” he said. “Millions of cats need help, but impact is often invisible and trust is fragile. Blockchain allows us to make saving cats transparent, trackable, and scalable.”
Token Tails reports measurable early outcomes: the project says it has saved more than 800 cats to date, funding food, medical treatments, and urgent care across multiple shelters. BGA characterises these results as early validation of the system’s mechanics rather than a standalone milestone, emphasising that the core objective is to demonstrate continuous, infrastructure-led funding operating in real-world settings.
BGA perspective and rationale
Glenn Tan, Director of Global Affairs at Blockchain for Good Alliance, explained the selection in terms of incentive alignment. “Blockchain’s true potential for good is realised when incentives are aligned with impact,” he said. “BGA selected Token Tails not simply for what it has achieved to date, but for the way its model converts everyday digital participation into a continuous funding engine for shelters globally. It is a strong example of how blockchain can move beyond speculation and into systems designed for scalable, measurable public benefit.”
BGA and its founding organisation Bybit have opted to support Token Tails through deeper incubation because the systems-led model, coupled with early performance metrics, aligns with the Alliance’s strategic emphasis on sustained and verifiable impact rather than one-off campaigns.
Planned public engagement and events
Token Tails is scheduled to co-host a side event with Bybit and BGA during Paris Blockchain Week 2026. The event will feature supported rescue cats and provide attendees with opportunities to participate in hands-on rescue activities and interact with animals that have been helped through the platform. BGA indicates this event is intended to reinforce the tangible, real-world outcomes tied to its incubation programming.
Organisational and partner context
Blockchain for Good Alliance is a nonprofit initiative established by Bybit to promote blockchain applications that deliver societal impact. As part of the Ascend Incubation track, BGA is providing Token Tails with both funding and operational support to accelerate its stated mission of making rescue funding continuous and verifiable.
Mantle has provided both technical assistance and a specified funding commitment of 5,000 MNT to Token Tails, while BGA’s tailored advisory programmes will support areas including fundraising, compliance, and partnerships as the project expands.
Next steps and timeline
Token Tails remains in the Ascend incubation cycle and is expected to graduate from the programme at the BGAwards in November 2026. Following graduation, BGA will name the subsequent leading project for its annual bespoke incubation support.
The selection and the resources allocated to Token Tails underscore BGA’s strategic aim to back projects that embed impact into everyday user activity and that can demonstrate funding flows tied to verifiable outcomes in the real world.
