Peloton Interactive saw its shares rise roughly 6% on Monday after Spotify unveiled a new content partnership that bundles Peloton classes into its Premium offering in supported markets. The deal brings Peloton’s on-demand workout library to Spotify users alongside the streaming service’s existing music, podcasts, audiobooks and video content.
What the partnership includes
Under the agreement, Spotify Premium subscribers in supported markets will receive access to more than 1,400 ad-free Peloton classes as part of their existing subscription. The catalog spans outdoor runs, strength training, cardio, yoga and meditation, and features sessions led by Peloton instructors including Rebecca Kennedy, Ally Love and Rad Lopez. The classes are designed so that no specialized equipment is required.
Spotify’s fitness push
Spotify said it is expanding into fitness content by adding guided workout experiences to its platform. The company pointed to user behavior to support the move, noting that nearly 70% of Premium users work out monthly and that more than 150 million fitness playlists are active worldwide. Roman Wasenmüller, VP and Global Head of Podcasts at Spotify, said, "For nearly two decades, Spotify has been the soundtrack to the world’s workouts. But listening was only the beginning. Today, we are expanding Spotify to become a true daily wellness companion."
Both free and Premium users will have access to curated playlists and fitness-related content from wellness creators such as Yoga with Kassandra, Caitlin K’eli Yoga, Sweaty Studio and Chloe Ting Home Workouts, among others.
Availability and formats
The fitness content will be accessible on mobile devices, desktop computers and TVs. Workouts will be offered primarily in English, with selected options available in Spanish and German. Premium subscribers will additionally have the ability to download classes for offline viewing.
Strategic implications
The arrangement broadens Peloton’s content distribution beyond its own app and hardware ecosystem by placing a substantial portion of its on-demand classes inside a major global streaming platform. The partnership links Peloton’s instructor-led sessions with Spotify’s large base of active fitness listeners and playlists.
