Its products include wiring devices, bath fans, and other electrical products sold primarily to the electrical distribution trade, including electrical and lighting distributors as well as manufactured housing companies. The firm imports and markets its products and is also exploring strategic business opportunities. Universal Safety Products, Inc. was formerly known as Universal Security Instruments, Inc. and changed its name in 2025 following the sale of its smoke and carbon monoxide alarm business to Feit Electric. The company was founded by Stephen C. Knepper and Michael L. Kovens in 1969 and is headquartered in Owings Mills, MD.
