Israel's benchmark TA-35 index closed up 0.53% on Monday, paced by advances in Technology, Biomed and Communication names. Renewable energy and select pharmaceuticals were among the session's top performers, while several insurance and financial stocks lagged. Commodity markets saw sharp moves, with crude and Brent oil jumping and June gold futures slipping. Currency pairs involving the shekel also moved higher against the dollar and euro.

Key Points

  • TA-35 closed up 0.53%, with Technology, Biomed and Communication sectors contributing to the advance.
  • Top performers included Navitas Petroleum LP Unit, Enlight Renewable Energy and Teva Pharmaceutical, while Harel, Migdal Insurance and Menora Miv Hld were the largest decliners.
  • Commodities moved sharply: June crude oil and Brent rose over 5% each, while June gold futures fell about 1%; currency pairs USD/ILS and EUR/ILS rose.

Tel Aviv equity markets ended the trading day in positive territory on Monday, with the TA-35 rising 0.53% at the close. Gains were concentrated in Technology, Biomed and Communication sectors, which helped lift the benchmark.

The session's strongest performers on the TA-35 included Navitas Petroleum LP Unit (TASE:NVPTp), which climbed 3.98% - a gain of 530.00 points - to finish at 13,850.00. Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TASE:ENLT) rose 3.29% or 800.00 points to close at 25,100.00, and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd (TASE:TEVA) increased 3.07%, adding 288.00 points to end the day at 9,658.00.

On the downside, Harel (TASE:HARL) registered the largest decline among TA-35 components, slipping 2.94% or 540.00 points to 17,820.00 at the close. Migdal Insurance (TASE:MGDL) fell 2.63%, a drop of 50.00 points, to finish at 1,850.00, while Menora Miv Hld (TASE:MMHD) lost 2.24% or 1,100.00 points to trade at 48,090.00.

Market internals were mixed: decliners outnumbered advancers on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, with 245 stocks falling compared with 223 gainers, and 84 issues ending unchanged.

Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd (TASE:ENLT) reached an all-time high during the session, increasing 3.29% or 800.00 points to close at 25,100.00.

Commodity markets displayed notable volatility. Crude oil for June delivery rose 5.62%, gaining 4.64 to trade at $87.23 a barrel. Brent oil for June delivery advanced 5.73%, an increase of 5.18, to settle at $95.56 a barrel. In contrast, the June Gold Futures contract declined 1.04% - down 50.89 - to trade at $4,828.71 a troy ounce.

Currency moves showed the Israeli shekel strengthening in bilateral terms quoted in local pairs: USD/ILS was up 0.66% to 2.99, and EUR/ILS rose 0.75% to 3.52. The US Dollar Index Futures was marginally higher, up 0.08% at 97.97.

Overall, the trading day was characterized by sector-led gains that supported the TA-35's modest advance, while broader market breadth and commodity swings created divergent performance across individual names.

Risks

  • Market breadth was weak as decliners (245) outnumbered advancers (223), which could signal uneven participation across sectors - affecting financials and broader equity performance.
  • Substantial swings in oil and metal prices create uncertainty for energy and commodity-exposed sectors, given crude oil and Brent moved sharply higher while gold fell.
  • Movements in USD/ILS and EUR/ILS introduce currency risk for exporters and importers quoted in shekels, as both pairs rose during the session.
