President Trump to Receive New Cadillac SUVs and Upgraded Air Force One Aircraft

In recent developments concerning U.S. presidential transportation, new Cadillac SUVs have been incorporated into PresidentDonald Trump's motorcade. The U.S. Secret Service began using these newly delivered vehicles in Davos, Switzerland, according to an agency statement released on social media. While the Secret Service did not provide official confirmation, the models appear to be modified Cadillac Escalades, a likely evolution in protective ground transportation for the President.

Sean Curran, the Director of the Secret Service, expressed enthusiasm about expanding the agency's longstanding collaboration with General Motors in a formal statement, emphasizing the introduction of these latest vehicles to the protective fleet. This initiative follows a meeting between President Trump and Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors, earlier this year. During that dialogue, Trump proposed the idea of acquiring Cadillac SUVs for presidential travel. Subsequently, Curran visited a GM facility in Warren, Michigan, in March, focusing on discussions around next-generation armored SUVs for presidential use.

The Secret Service and General Motors refrained from providing additional comments regarding the specifics of the new Cadillac SUVs when approached for more information. Traditionally, the President's ground travel frequently involves an armored Chevrolet Suburban alongside the presidential limousine, reflecting consistency in enhanced security measures.

Further modernizing the presidential fleet, GM secured a $14.8 million contract awarded by the Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service in September 2024 for the development of the next-generation presidential limousine, commonly referred to as "The Beast." This contract could total up to $40.8 million through 2029, underlining substantial investment in armored vehicle advancements. A contract modification issued in August allocated $13.5 million through exercises of preexisting options.

Photographic evidence from the March visit to GM's Warren facility showcased a Cadillac Escalade SUV displaying a presidential flag alongside a large presidential seal image. The vehicle bears close resemblance to the transport used by President Trump during his recent travels.

On the aerial transportation front, the U.S. Air Force disclosed that President Trump is expected to receive a new presidential aircraft by summer. This announcement came after a temporary downgrade occurred on Tuesday evening during Trump's trip to Davos, where the traditional Boeing 747 was replaced with a smaller Boeing 757 due to a minor electrical problem.

In May, President Trump accepted a luxurious Boeing 747 jetliner from the Qatari government intended as an interim Air Force One until two newly commissioned planes from Boeing become operational following repeated delays. Originally manufactured 13 years ago, the former Qatari jet, featuring a plush interior, is currently undergoing extensive retrofitting estimated to cost several hundred million dollars.

The Air Force anticipates delivery of this interim aircraft by no later than summer 2026, with assurances that all necessary security protocols and functional mission requirements are being carefully coordinated with relevant government agencies.

However, the introduction of the next generation of Air Force One jetliners has encountered significant postponements, with the first of the two new Boeing planes now expected by mid-2028. This represents the latest in a series of setbacks impacting the presidential fleet's long-term modernization.
