MOSCOW, April 4 - Regional authorities in southern Russia said that a combined drone and missile assault attributed to Ukrainian forces killed one person, left four others seriously injured and ignited a fire aboard a foreign-flagged commercial vessel.
Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region, reported that an air attack by Ukraine resulted in one fatality and four people suffering serious injuries. The assault, he said, also struck commercial infrastructure in the city of Taganrog, where a fire took hold in the warehouse premises of a logistics company.
Slyusar additionally stated that a Ukrainian drone attack in the Sea of Azov caused damage to a commercial vessel and started a fire aboard the ship. No further operational or casualty details about the vessel were provided in the statements released by regional officials.
Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, governor of the Samara region, said that the city of Togliatti was targeted by Ukrainian drones. He indicated it was not clear what specific facilities or assets were hit in that incident. The statement referenced earlier incidents in which the TogliattiAzot chemical fertiliser producer had been a reported target.
The accounts from Rostov and Samara regional authorities portray a series of strikes affecting both maritime and land-based commercial assets. Officials described damage to a logistics warehouse in Taganrog and fire aboard a foreign-flagged ship in the Sea of Azov, while confirmation of particular targets in Togliatti was not available at the time of the reports.
Regional governors provided the operational details, noting casualties and infrastructure damage. Beyond the specific incidents cited by the officials, no additional information on wider damage, maritime operations, or longer-term impacts was included in their statements.
The situation remains defined by the information released by local authorities: one person killed, four seriously injured, damage to commercial infrastructure in Taganrog, a warehouse fire at a logistics facility, a commercial vessel damaged and burning in the Sea of Azov, and drone activity over Togliatti with unclear impact to specific targets.
